Cloud House, Barton
Completed Jan 2010, this private residence epitomizes what K2 architects is about.......soulful, meaningful, elegant and controlled design that has created a timeless piece of architecture that blends effortlessly into its environment.
5 bedroom 370m2 domestic dwelling for a private client situated on green belt land north of Liverpool is a home that is designed to fit in with the modern farm buildings that dot the landscape around Ormskirk. Oversized pre-weathered zinc tiles clad the wall and are staggered around the house to mirror the moving clouds above, which in turn reflect and animate the metallic skin to constantly change the appearance of facade. To the north the elevation is undisturbed, with minimal fenestration allowing the zinc to create real drama reflecting the sky. The southern elevation is more open to take advantage of the views out across the ‘moss’.
Sustainable technologies are deployed to create a home with an excellent rating environmental impact.
Building operates on a digital home management system incorporating biometrics for maximum security allowing the building to be managed from anywhere in the world from the owners mobile phone. |
