Freshfield Road, Freshfield
K2 Architects has created a sensitive modernisation of this existing late Victorian property in Freshfield near Formby in Merseyside
We obtained Full Planning Permission for our proposals in November of 2008. They entail the demolition of a former extension that accommodated dated bathroom and kitchen facilities to be replaced with at modern open plan living/kitchen arrangement with a first floor dedicated to new luxury bathroom facilities and a new master bedroom and en-suite increasing the number of bedrooms from four to five.
The existing building is to be sensitively restored to make the most of its period features, whilst the new extension opens the house up to the views of its magnificent mature garden. At ground floor a series of bi-folding doors can fully retract to entirely open up the living areas in the summer whilst upstairs the master bedroom enjoys the benefit of a balcony overlooking the garden. A structural glass balustrade prevents the view being obstructed whilst an extended overhanging roof provides shade and shelter all year round. |
