K2 Architects were commissioned to produce a contemporary single store extension to an existing art deco dwelling in a green belt area of West Lancashire.

Working closely with the client an ambitious brief was developed to create a multi-functional space that would include a kitchen, living, dining room, intelligent storage and concealed home cinema room.

A steel framed butterfly roof, clad in pre-weathered zinc over sailed the entire internal space, maximising the long views across the plains of the West Lancashire countryside, allowing the room to be filled with natural light.

Sensitive consultation resulted in a successful planning application being approved in May 2010. K2 Architects were commissioned to produce full planning, building regulations, construction details and specification.
