Living Walls, Liverpool

In this project that management team at Liverpool ONE set K2 Architects a particularly challenging project. Their brief was to create a series of attractive movable screens that could be used to influence pedestrian movement around the development at certain times. The screens could not completely close off what were in essence public streets with 24 hour access for pedetrians, delivery vehicles and emergency services. The screens therefore needed to flexible.

K2 Architects response was a series of geometric interlocking screens that could move around on tracks recessed into the ground. No top rail was required, which both improved access and appearence.

The losenge shapes support a vertical green wall which gives the screens a bright attractive appearence and encorages ecological diversity within the development.
