Piercefield Road, Formby

K2 Architects conducted a full restoration of this Edwardian home in Formby Merseyside and then added a modern extension to the rear that allowed the owners to enjoy contemporary open plan living within the framework of a traditional home.

The brief required us to turn the existing 3 bed property into a 5 bedroom one complete with en-suite facilities to the first two bedrooms and a family bathroom for the rest. To the rear of the property a striking modern extension has been constructed that draws views of the mature woodland to the rear of the garden into the living space. At first floor the full height master bedroom window overlooks the adjacent cricket ground. A new double garage was also designed to the rear of the property. Incorporated into this was a courtyard space that can be enjoyed by the full height glazed window to the the breakfast room.

The existing Edwardian part of the building was sensitively restored in minute detail whilst also bringing it in line with modern standards of heating, sustainability and comfort.
