Meet the K2 team
Kevin Horton
Architectural Director
Kevin began working in architectural practice in 1989 rising to the position of senior project architect for a large international firm of architects developing and delivering projects in excess of £80m in value.

Kevin’s experience has given him a sophisticated understanding of building design and he has successfully designed and managed some of the most complex technical challenges faced on the RIBA Stirling Prize Shortlisted, Liverpool ONE Development.

Kevin also sits on the Liverpool City Chamber of Commerce Members’ Council, advising on construction and development. Kevin is also a Merseyside Chamber of Commerce Business Mentor, guiding new enterprises through the first six months of their development.

Mark Davies
Architectural Director
Mark graduated in 2001, making the final shortlist for the RIBA Presidents Medal. He went on to work for the UK's largest architectural practice delivering the RIBA Stirling Prize shortlisted Liverpool ONE, before co-founding K2 Architects in 2009.

Mark's focus is on the creative direction of the practice and communicating these ideas to the outside world. Working closely with clients across both public and private sectors, he is developing a dialogue and studio culture that has brought innovation across all schemes.

He sits on a number of boards, he is vice-chairman of the Forum of the Built Environment, Liverpool branch and more recently joined the Liverpool Steering Group, a private sector board that leads a delegation for MIPIM 2017.
Clark Hill
Associate Architect
Clark has a significant degree of experience working in a number of London based architectural design practices of various sizes and sector specialisms. Clark rose to position of Associate at a large international firm of architects developing and delivering projects in excess of £270m in value.

Clark combines natural leadership with a well-rounded understanding of the entire design and construction process. He views building positive relationships with the project team as key to delivering the very best result.

Clark provides overall coordination and development of each project, including job resourcing and project planning and takes great pride in providing client satisfaction.

In addition to managing a busy workload, he mentors younger architects in the studio to help develop their skill sets.


Matthew Lewis
Architect
Matthew has a well-rounded background in technical delivery complimented by an uncommonly detailed understanding of construction.

He continually challenges designs and always finds innovative ways of overcoming obstacles.

His passion lies in well-considered research and considering the cultural, social and economic context for each individual project – he then tailors his designs and technical approach accordingly.
Jonathan Tinsley
Architectural Assistant
Jonathan graduated with a Masters in Architecture from Liverpool John Moores University. His creative talent gained him a RIBA Presidents Medal nomination in 2015.

Jon thrives when he is given freedom to express himself artistically. He designed the 'It's Liverpool' stand for MIPIM, Cannes 2017. The interactive area was used by some of the world's most influential international property investors.

He also has a keen interest in virtual/augmented reality and co-supports how the business uses these technologies.
Craig Davies
Senior Architect
Craig attained distinctions in all three of his degrees and is a qualified Senior Architect with ten years’ experience.

He has a significant degree of experience working in a number of architectural practices of various sizes and sector specialisms.

Craig has five years BIM experience. As BIM Manager, he provides overall coordination and development of the building information modelling functions and processes. He coordinates and manages the linkages between CAD and the numerous information sources associated with each project.
Sam Buckley
Architectural Assistant
Sam graduated from Liverpool John Moores University with a First Class Degree.

Sam favours a style which fuses people and activity together, enhancing the architectural experience.

He is an incredible talent for his years and a valuable member of the team.
Robert Jones
Designer
Rob graduated from John Moores University with a commendation in Architecture and has led numerous high profile projects since joining K2.

Rob has been praised by several contractors and Liverpool City Council for his approach to the design and delivery of projects under tight time and budget constraints.

Whilst managing a busy workload Rob also supports and nurtures the junior staff in the office to help develop their skill set. It’s no surprise he was shortlisted for the AJ/Curtins Inspiring Graduate Prize in 2015.
Ian Turner
Senior Architectural Technician
Ian has a strong technical background with over 30 years’ experience in the construction design industry.

His sophisticated understanding of building design, construction techniques and real time problem solving combined with a first class knowledge of current UK building legislation underpins K2’s technical delivery service.

Ian excels at working with contractors and site managers during Work Stages 4-6 to ensure buildability and deliverability expectations are satisfied.

He also has two years BIM experience.

Joe Carter
Architectural Assistant
Joe graduated from Liverpool John Moores University with a First-Class Degree.

As a creative thinker and problem solver he favours explorative and experimental design.

He believes in architecture which creates spaces that not only benefit people but improves their lives.

Amanda Townley
Office Manager
Amanda oversees all administrative, clerical and financial activities, facilitating the smooth running of the studio.

In addition, Amanda maintains all of K2’s professional accreditation, assists the design team with project administration and provides executive support to the company directors.
Matthew Widdowson
Architectural Assistant
Matthew heads K2’s photography and videography which helps strengthen our design approach through the team's understanding of social and visual media.

Technologies are revolutionising the architectural industry. Matt takes full advantage of the opportunities these emerging technologies present, to develop the project brief into a workable design.

His core skills include promotional videos, storyboarding, filming, editing, drone footage, website design and virtual reality. His engagement in this media ensures we can offer our clients an exceptional service.
