Liverpool Media Academy (LMA)

A pioneering first for re-purposing how a shopping centre can function as a teaching space, fusing learning and education with leisure and retail.
Liverpool Media Academy

The transformation of 18 former retail units at the Metquarter Shopping Centre into 51,000 sq ft of studios and teaching space, including state-of-the-art film, dance and recording studios, music rehearsal rooms, and classrooms. The first of its type in the UK to inhabit a shopping centre – our approach has enlivened and re-activated vacant retail units into a series of dynamic, flexible, and creative learning spaces where students can express themselves.

Liverpool Media Academy is a music and performing arts institution co-owned by global superstar Robbie Williams.

It was very clear from the start that K2 Architects really grasped the emotional side of how we teach at LMA and more importantly how the environment would inspire our students, with the freedom to express themselves. The results are truly transformational with a beautifully crafted theatrical playground for all to enjoy
